How to Make Thai Basil Tofu

Press tofu to remove excess water, then cut into cubes. Toss tofu with cornstarch to coat evenly.

Heat oil in a pan and fry tofu until golden and crispy on all sides. Remove and set aside.

In the same pan, add garlic, chilies, and onion. Stir-fry for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, lime juice, and water.

Pour sauce into the pan and stir well.

Add crispy tofu back in and toss to coat.

Turn off heat and stir in fresh Thai basil leaves until wilted.

How to Serve

Serve hot over steamed jasmine rice or noodles. Add extra basil or chili for more flavor.

Tips for Best Results

Use firm or extra-firm tofu for best texture. Don’t overcrowd the pan when frying tofu. Add basil at the end to keep its fresh aroma. Adjust spice level to your taste.

Variations

Add vegetables like broccoli or bell peppers. Make it extra spicy with more chilies. Use tempeh instead of tofu. Add a fried egg on top for non-vegan version.

Storage and Meal Prep

Store in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a pan for best flavor and texture.
